Student Work
Student Work
My teaching philosophy is responsive, and student-led, built on questioning, critique, iteration, and active problem-solving. I highly value creating an environment where students feel safe enough to try new things, with the understanding that failure is part of the learning process. Helping students develop the confidence and persistence to try again is where I believe durable learning happens. To accomplish this, I use a project-based course structure. This helps develop conceptual thinking and technical skills while producing authentic learning experiences.
Graphic Design II: Advanced topics in graphic design including typography, branding, and computer skills
Digital Imaging: Digital photography for commercial applications and advanced techniques in Adobe Photoshop
Digital Graphic Communications: Design and production of graphic communications for cross-media
Software for Graphic Techniques: Basics of the Adobe Creative Suite with an emphasis on Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
For this project students were asked to design a poster for a scholarship foundation. The theme and text was supplied by the foundation and students had to come up with an original concept to match the theme. They were also asked to document their process and reflect on the success of the project.
For this project students were asked to develop a promotion and design a cross-media campaign for it. The project included a printed and folded mailer and a series of social media graphics for digital use.Â
In Digital Imaging, students learn the fundamentals of studio photography as well as how to manipulate, adjust, and composite their images in Adobe Photoshop to create advertisement-ready photos.
